Optical studies of spin phenomena using a two-color Kerr rotation technique
with micron spatial resolution and ultra-high polarization sensitivity
We propose a systematic research program covering the spintronics aspects
of spin flow, spin relaxation and spin separation in semiconductor
nanostructures. Our proposal is based on all-optical techniques that are
sensitive to as few as 104 electron spins with micron spatial (lateral) resolution.
The research plan consists of several sub-projects that are closely related to
each other and individually address important problems (either arising from
earlier studies or following from theoretical predictions that have not been
examined experimentally yet). This will allow us to draw a coherent physical
picture of the considered phenomena and optimize or suggest structure
parameters for future investigations and applications.
